IntraPINES and Other Interlibrary Loan Searches

Requests must be made by a registered patron in good standing. First, the PINES catalog is searched. Items must have been at the item library for more than 6 months. If not found through the PINES search, an item that is more than 6 months old will be requested through the library's standard Interlibrary Loan procedures. The staff will attempt to fill such requests through libraries in Georgia (GOLD) and the southeast (SOLINET).

  • All searches will be limited to five (5) items per request. Minimum time for such a search is two weeks before materials are needed.
  • College students will be encouraged to use their college or university library before asking their local public library for ILL help. RML will do online GOLD location searches for college students, to see if any college has the needed titles. If students are enrolled in the University System of Georgia, they should be encouraged to contact their college library to obtain the materials themselves. If they are not in the University System, RML will attempt to order the material. Any unusual expense involved in this service (over $5.00) may be charged back to the patron making the request.
  • Patrons who request books but do not pick them up or patrons who abuse the lending privileges by constantly returning books late will be suspended from using the interlibrary loan procedures by the Associate Director or the Director.
  • The library fax machine will be used only for emergency materials, usually copies of periodicals. In most cases, getting the materials online will be just as quick and will cost less.

Photocopies

This service is done at the request of a patron. Any copying or request for copying that apparently falls outside the guidelines of current copyright law is the responsibility of the patron making the request. Patrons are expected to pay for all copies unless otherwise stipulated, or unless inferior copies make them useless. Copy prices are established by the Director and determined by local costs including service contracts, etc.

Patrons are expected to make copies within regular hours. The copy machine will be powered down at five minutes before closing time. Patrons running more than 20 copies of the same item will be expected to defer to single copy users whenever possible.

Reference and ILL Loan Fees

Generally no charge is made except for photocopies at 25 cents per page.
