Both patrons and employees of the library are expected to use the library's computers, its network, and its electronic access facilities for their intended library purposes. Misuse of library computing facilities by patrons can result in loss of the privilege of using library computers and possibly the loss of all library privileges. Adjustment or configuration of the library's computer equipment and facilities by unauthorized persons is not allowed and is considered a misuse. Public use computers are available in these areas: Adult Area: Available to anyone 12 years and older with a valid library card and Internet privileges. (See Internet Use Policy) Children under 12 years old with a parent or guardian and a valid library card. Visitors over age 18 or with parents. Sessions on these computers are 30 minutes each with a maximum of two hours per day. These computers have Internet, Galileo, Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher), Microsoft Streets and Trips, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, Thomas Register, Encarta, Small Business Resource Guide, Family Lawyer, Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, World Book Online, Flora, and Jr. Discovering Authors. (See hardware and software for a description of software) Young Adult Area: Available to all patrons with a valid library card. Sessions on these computers are 30 minutes each with a maximum of two hours per day. These computers have Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher), Microsoft Streets and Trips, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, Encarta, Family Lawyer, and Jr. Discovering Authors. (See hardware and software for a description of software) Children's Area: Three computers are available for use by children. These computers have educational games as well as encyclopedias, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Publisher programs available. They are not connected to the printers so please ask a children's staff person if you need something printed from these computers. Children are required to sign in for the use of the computer at the Children's service desk. They are allowed thirty minutes at a time and if no one is waiting they may be allowed extra time. Small children need an adult to assist them in the use of the computers.
